The 52 Petroushka Ball which took place on Friday the 10th of February 2017 at the Plaza Hotel was both elegant and spirited! Our guests both dinner and dancing numbered 700. Two destinguished Orchestras entertained, The Lester Lanin in the Grand Ballroom and the Barynia Balalaika in the Terrace Room. 

This year as in the past 15 years stars from the Metropolitan Opera performed. Kristine Opolais and Brandon Jovanovich both presently in the opera "Rusalka" sang the most beautiful areas. 

An award was presented to Dr. Igor Holodny, chairman of the Board, for his long and dedicated service the children we serve.  

All net proceeds from the Petroushka Ball go directly towards the Russian Children’s Welfare Society (RCWS) charitable programs. Among them are educational scholarships for orphans (currently 120 students), medical treatment for children with severe facial deformities (annually over 200 little patients receive surgeries), assistance to orphanages, rehabilitation programs for children with special needs, a “Yelka” (New Year and Christmas tree) party in Moscow for over 1,000 disadvantaged children visiting from many areas of Russia; and other vital programs.

The success of the Petroushka Ball is contingent upon the renewed participation of local and international businesses, as well as RCWS’ patrons.  You can support the RCWS charitable programs and be a part of the Petroushka Ball in one or more of the following ways: purchasing tickets to the Ball; placing advertisements in the Petroushka Ball program; donating prizes for the raffle; making a cash donation; supplying products for the gift bags.

All net proceeds from the 52nd Petroushka Ball will be directed towards RCWS’ charitable programs.  Founded in 1926, the RCWS is focused on improving the lives of children at risk in Russia.  The programs RCWS is currently undertaking include: medical treatment for children, educational scholarships for orphans, assistance to children with special needs, direct support of orphanages, rehabilitation centers and schools, a “Yelka” (New Year and Christmas tree) celebration in Moscow for over 1,000 disadvantaged children visiting from many areas of Russia; and other vital programs. At present, RCWS awards full scholarships to 86 college students in Pskov, Yaroslavl, Moscow, and Veliki Novgorod regions.
